Western vs. Eastern
Western
So, I went to see a doctor (we'll call him Dr. D for dick)
at Kaiser Permanente today, had an annual and discussed issues I'm having with my cycle. I tried to explain to him I've been tracking my temps for the past 6 cycles and all he did was glance at two of them, then threw them all in the garbage. Are you for fucking real? No he didn't just negate my feelings/process!
He begins to tell me (not ask, but tell me) that I shouldn't chart. He says it gives false info & could quite possibly be the cause of my cycles. Um, ok. Then he proceeds to snap at me twice while my feet are sky high in the cold stirrups. I seriously felt like I needed to defend myself and snap back. How rude can one stranger be, especially when the other is half naked. UGH.
Eastern- Then on to the acupuncturist.
So, as soon as I walk in, she makes nice, simple conversation... then asks me how I'm feeling and what symptoms I've been having (insomnia, backache, anything). She asks how my cycle looks this month with my temps, and genuinely got excited when I told her it appears I O'd. She then asks if I check CP and CM to back it up and if I used TCOYF, I said yes, but told her I use FF to chart. (she made a note to look it up saying she hadn't heard of it before) haha
We spend about 15 mins just going over things before we got down to business. I 'heart' her. She made me feel so much better after Dr. D.

Need S.L.E.E.P
I don't know what my deal is. I'm so fucking cranky. I've been lacking in the sleep department big time, but c'mon really? I feel so bad because I've been so negative (even just driving home from work).
::Sigh::
Maybe tonight I'll turn in early.
Sorry to anyone and everyone I've been mean to :(

The Twilight Saga
Call me a child, teenybopper, or tween- I don't care.
I absolutely fell in love with the series. I have always enjoyed vampire literature (Ann Rice, Laurell K Hamilton etc) but this kind of kicked it up a notch in my book. I never understood what the hype was about until I actually read the books. The writing itself isn't the best I've read, but there is something undeniable about how she draws you in. Her fan base is so diverse, don't knock it till you try it. I sit here now reading the series for a second time and counting down the months till Eclipse.
Flame away.

Personal Challenge
So,its been a while, but my life is just not that interesting to write about sometimes.
So, my New Years "resolution" is to get my lazy bum into the gym at a minimum of 4 days a week. So far so good. My ideal goal is to lose weight, but I just want to feel better in general. I have not liked who I have become (gaining 15 or so lbs since June). I figured if I put it out there... weight and all, then maybe I can be accountable.
Sooooooo, starting weight 172 lbs (eeeek)

Christmas on Peacock lane
I'm so excited! Tonight E and I are going to head over to Peacock Lane to check out the lights this year. For those of you who don't know what it is.... there's a neighborhood here in Portland where every house is decorated with Chrismas lights and decorations, and people walk/drive through to check it out. Its such a neat thing to do at Christmas! Here's a pic:

New edition to our fam- no, not a baby
Saturday, November 21, 2009
Next week
Thanksgiving is coming, and I'm really excited. My parents will be joining us, along with MIL.... then on Friday my sister and adorable 2 year old nephew will be staying with us. I cannot wait!!!!! I love this kid to pieces! My sister and her husband have been trying for another child and just found out they are expecting a July baby. I am really excited for them.... I felt bad because she was scared to tell me since she knows we've been trying longer than she has. But I am truly happy for them, and hopefully we will be expecting some good news sometime soon as well. We'll see about that.

So its Greek tonight!
*Serves 6*
Ingredients
Salad:

* 1 head romaine lettuce- rinsed, dried and chopped
* 1 red onion, thinly sliced
* 1 (6 ounce) can pitted Kalamata olives
* 2 large tomatoes, cut into wedges
* 1 cucumber, sliced
* 1 cup crumbled feta cheese
In a large salad bowl, combine the Romaine, onion, olives, bell peppers, tomatoes, cucumber and cheese.
Dressing:
* 1/4 tablespoons and 2 teaspoons olive oil
* 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
* 3/4 teaspoon dried oregano
* 3/4 teaspoon dried basil
* 1/2 teaspoon pepper
* 1/2 teaspoon salt
* 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
* 1/2 teaspoon Dijon-style mustard (optional- not traditional, but good)
* 1/3 cup and 1 teaspoon red wine vinegar
In a container, mix together the olive oil, garlic powder, oregano, basil, pepper, salt, onion powder, and Dijon-style mustard. Pour in the vinegar, and mix vigorously until well blended. Store tightly covered at room temperature
Yiayia's chicken:

* 3-6 chicken breasts shredded (depending on how much chicken you want)
* 1 can of chicken broth (1/2 for preparing the chicken to shred, and a little less than than half to go into oven dish.
* olive oil to taste
* 1 lemon
* oregano to taste (I use a lot)
* black pepper
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Shred chicken
-I like to cook mine in a crock pot for 4 hours on high. I sprinkle some black pepper on chicken and pour chicken broth on bottom. But you can also cook the chicken on the stove, just cut up into pieces then and repeat above. Once cooked, shred with two forks into med/large pieces.
Place shredded chicken in glass pan, pour broth in. Layer with olive oil, lemon juice and oregano and toss gently. Add more oregano & black pepper on top.
Cook for 20 minutes
-Can be served with pasta (for a quick meal use the Herb style Pastaroni), or if you have more time, slice up potatoes, place in pan so the potato slices are "standing" back to back, pour enough chicken broth over potatoes/bottom to keep from sticking, & cover with foil. Bake until potatoes are soft, remove foil, and sprinkle grated Parmesan over the top and bake till brown!
Enjoy!

Trying acupuncture
So, I decided to try acupuncture. I went in for the first time today, and she also gave me some herbal medicine to hopefully help me. I've heard great things about acupuncture so I've got all fingers and toes crossed!
